A Tissue Figure Patola

Step into the world of Patola, where every thread is dyed before it is woven, and the pattern lives inside the yarn itself long before it ever touches the loom.

This exquisite Patola saree is woven in the traditional Figure design, rendered in a luminous tissue weave that lends the entire fabric a radiant golden sheen. Across an ivory field, olive-green ogee medallions enclose a menagerie of elephants, deer, birds and squirrels in gold and rust, arranged in the rhythmic diamond trellis characteristic of this tradition.

The border unfolds in a rust-gold band of vine and floral ikat, bordered by a fine diamond lattice, while the pallu blooms into a solid radiant tissue-gold field, patterned with a temple-style triangular border in green and cream, finished with a fringe of rich maroon silk tassels. Each motif takes shape through the painstaking resist-dyeing of the yarns before weaving, a technique further elevated here by the fine metallic tissue thread woven through the fabric, demanding exceptional patience, precision and skill from the artisan.

SILK MARK CERTIFIED

Color - An ivory field patterned in olive-green, gold and rust, woven throughout in a luminous tissue finish, with a radiant tissue-gold pallu.

Technique - The traditional Patola handloom weave, in which the yarns are resist-dyed to the pattern before weaving and painstakingly aligned by hand on the loom, here rendered in a fine tissue weave that threads a metallic sheen through the fabric, bringing the elephants, deer, birds and squirrels of the Figure design to life with a luminous glow.

Fabric - Luxurious handwoven tissue silk, with the beautiful character and subtle variations unique to an authentic handloom weave.

Craft - A handwoven Patola masterpiece in the Tissue Figure design, where a menagerie of elephants, deer, birds and squirrels unfolds within olive-green medallions across an ivory field, framed by a rust-gold vine border and a radiant tissue-gold pallu, edged with hand-tied silk tassels.

Blouse - An unstitched blouse piece in the same fabric as the saree is included.

The Artful Finish - Ready to wear, with fall neatly done. The pallu is completed with hand-knotted netted silk tassels, adding a graceful final flourish.

Preserving Your Heritage - To honor the artistry of your Patola, cradle it in soft cotton or breathable muslin, ensuring it is refolded every few months to keep the silk supple and free of permanent creases. Guard this treasure from the reach of perfumes, dampness, and the harsh glare of direct sun. Professional dry cleaning is advised to maintain the ethereal luster of the zari and the integrity of the silk. In every thread of Patola, a legacy of craft is preserved.

A Note on Handmade Beauty

No two handcrafted sarees are ever exactly alike. Subtle variations in colour, texture, and finish are part of their charm, the quiet signature of the hands that created them. Colors and textures may also appear slightly different depending on lighting, photography, screen settings, and other viewing conditions.

Every motif tells a story. Every thread carries the artisan's touch. And when you drape it, that story becomes yours.
