A Divine Celebration of the Ramayana in Srikalahasthi Kalamkari Mangalgiri Silk – Where art is not framed, it is draped.

Step into the enchanting world of the Ramayana, where divine valour, devotion, royal grace, and timeless storytelling come together in a richly expressive Kalamkari composition.

This exquisite Srikalahasthi Kalamkari Mangalgiri silk saree features a beautifully illustrated Ramayana scene on the pallu, with Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and attendant figures rendered in vivid hand-painted detail against a regal violet ground. The pallu is bordered above and below with delicate black floral vine borders and a row of ornamental temple-inspired motifs, while a golden-yellow field carries inscribed verses alongside painted motifs of a lotus and a ceremonial kalasha, lending the saree a scriptural, storytelling quality.

The saree is framed by rich purple woven borders with antique-gold detailing, adding a regal finish to the vibrant Kalamkari artwork. The interplay of golden yellow, deep violet, jewel-toned hand-painted figures, and antique-gold borders gives the saree a distinctive character, devotional, artistic, and wonderfully theatrical.

Color - A luminous golden-yellow and ivory Mangalgiri silk ground illuminated with vibrant shades of royal purple, blue, teal, emerald green, coral, orange, mustard, and black. The deep purple borders with antique-gold woven detailing add richness and elegance to the palette.

Technique - The beauty of Srikalahasthi Kalamkari lies in its extraordinary line work. Traditionally drawn with a kalam, or bamboo pen, the imagery is built through intricate outlines and countless fine details. Every face, garment, flower, leaf, and ornamental curl contributes to the narrative, giving the saree the quality of a hand-drawn manuscript rendered on silk.

Fabric - Mangalgiri silk, with its naturally textured surface, gentle sheen, and earthy character.

Craft - A Srikalahasthi Kalamkari masterpiece, hand-painted on Mangalgiri silk using the traditional kalam-drawn technique, featuring an enchanting procession of dancing figures surrounded by flourishing vines, flowers, and intricate ornamental motifs.

Blouse - An unstitched blouse piece in the same fabric as the saree is included.

The Artful Finish - Ready to wear, with fall and pico neatly done. The pallu is completed with handmade silk tassels, adding a graceful final flourish.

Care - Store folded in a soft cotton or muslin cloth and recommended to refold every 3 months. Keep away from perfume, direct sunlight and moisture. Professional dry cleaning is recommended to preserve the richness of art and the silk. With Kalahasthi Kalamkari, art is not framed, it is draped.

A Note on Handmade Beauty

No two handpainted sarees are ever exactly alike. Subtle variations in colour, texture, embroidery, and finish are part of their charm, the quiet signature of the hands that created them. Colors and textures may also appear slightly different depending on lighting, photography, screen settings, and other viewing conditions.

Every motif tells a story. Every stitch carries the artisan’s touch. And when you drape it, that story becomes yours.
