A Meenakari Brocade Weave from Gadwal, Telangana - With Gadwal Silk, heritage is handwoven, thread by thread.
Step into the timeless weaving tradition of Gadwal, Telangana, where cotton once met silk on the loom, and today pure silk itself carries forward a legacy of interlocking borders, gleaming zari, and understated elegance.
This exquisite Gadwal saree is a handloom treasure from Gadwal, near Hyderabad, Telangana, woven entirely in pure silk. Its soft lavender-silver body is patterned in a fine allover brocade of florals in gold, delicate and tone-on-tone in its sheen. The wide royal blue border and pallu bring striking contrast, richly worked in gold zari and dotted with round meenakari blooms in yellow, pink, and deep violet.
The border opens with a row of gold zari paisleys along the inner edge, followed by a floral vine band scattered with meenakari medallions in yellow, pink, and violet, and closes with a bright magenta-pink selvedge. The pallu carries the same rich blue ground, layering paisleys, floral bands, and meenakari medallions over a golden zari field, finished with fine green tassels, anchoring the saree in classic Gadwal-Kanchi grandeur.
Color - Soft lavender-silver paired with a royal blue border, brought alive with meenakari accents of yellow, pink, and violet, and a bright magenta-pink guard.
Technique - Traditional Gadwal handloom weaving brought together with a Kanchipuram-style contrast border. The body is woven in a fine brocade of tone-on-tone florals, while the border and pallu showcase gold zari paisleys and meenakari floral medallions, a striking fusion of two southern weaving traditions.
Fabric - Pure mulberry silk, chosen for its natural sheen, structured drape, and durability, letting the brocade weave and meenakari zari work stand out with striking clarity.
Craft - A Gadwal handloom masterpiece, woven on the pit loom with a soft brocade body and a rich meenakari border - a saree that carries forward centuries of weaving heritage from Telangana.
Blouse - A matching blouse piece in the same lavender-silver silk is attached to the saree.
The Artful Finish - Ready to wear, with fall and pico neatly done.
Care: Store folded in a soft cotton or muslin cloth and recommended to refold every 3 months to prevent creasing at the folds. Keep away from perfume, direct sunlight and moisture. Dry cleaning is recommended to preserve the zari and the silk. With Gadwal silk, heritage is handwoven, thread by thread.
A Note on Handloom Beauty
No two handloom sarees are ever exactly alike. Subtle variations in the zari tone, weave, and finish are part of their charm, the quiet signature of the loom and the weaver's hand behind each piece. Colors and textures may also appear slightly different depending on lighting, photography, screen settings, and other viewing conditions.
Every check is woven with intent. Every motif carries the weaver's rhythm. And when you drape it, that heritage becomes yours.
